Dans ma maison il y a le chant d'un oseau!

In my house there is .... a song of a bird! http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/

This week I have found some time to make my house. This is my participation.

The most suitable quote for this theme is this very wise quote of Maya Angelou:

A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song!

Dans ma maison il y a: un hôte des bois!

This week in my house there is a host of wood. I hope you do not mind, but instead of a host I made a hostess. Because it's a female.
This house is made of wood veneer plate. The stamps are from Peddlers Pack and Stampinback.

Dans ma maison il y a... l'Orient

This week in my house the orient is here: http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/.
This time it wasn't to hard to find some inspiration for my oriental house. My grandmother and my mother were both born in Thailand. Making this house was a sentimental journey for me. Lots of good memories of my grandmother came along. My grandmother passed away in 1995. It must have been very hard for her to live in the Netherlands. The weather in Thailand is much better and the colors are far more vivid. This house is a house with a story. It has several symbols. I used the stamp which was made of a picture of my grandmother, my Dutch grandfather (the real father of my mother died when she was 1,5 years old) and my mother when she was just a little girl. So I am very privileged! This stamp is made by Stampinback and it's called "You are mine". Thank you Stampinback! Look at their site for lovely stamps: http://www.stampinback.nl/. At the attic of the house in the Netherlands my grandmother kept a altar with her own Buddha. She brought him offerings like rice and flowers. It was her own little sacred place where she could meditate. The Buddha stamp is from Cherry Pie. I like the Buddhist color orange. I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, the color Tiger Lily, on nature paper. The background of the house is made with acryl paint (Ranger Dabbers, the color Lake Mist) and a little bit of Glimmer Mist (Tiger Lily). I used the Hero Arts Decorative Bamboo stamp. The bamboo has in Asia lots of different meanings: luck, friendship, modesty. For my mother the Oriental Poppy is one of her favorite flowers, she just loves to paint poppies. I don't know where the stamp is coming from. I made with a 3D-effect. The house is based on a picture (made by father) of a thai house. You can find this house in the gardens of the park Kasteeltuinen Arcen in the Netherlands. I used Tim Holtz' Grungeboard Mini Elements to create an oriental roof. I have also used watercolor pencils and Yasutomo - Pearlescent Watercolor paint.

Photo 1: my oriental house.
Photo 2: when my grandmother was a young woman and my mother was just a little girl.
Photo 3 the stamp (Stampinback: "You are Mine").
Photo 4: the picture of the Thai House (the photo was made by my father) in "De Kasteeltuinen Arcen".

Thank you for stopping by!

Iedere vrijdag is er een nieuwe chalenge bij Dans ma maison il y a... http://dansmamaisonilya.blogspot.com/. Dans ma maison il y a betekent het volgende: Er is in mijn huis ...... .
